This is a poster for the social realism film 'This Is England' which was directed by Shane Medows and was made in 2006. I used posters such as this one as inspiration for creating a poster for my film. I tried to stick within the usual conventions of social realism film posters when creating my own.

When comparing the two, you can see the various similarities in terms of style, and content. The 'This Is England' poster gave me the idea of making mine black and white. I purely made it this way to give it more atmosphere and tone and I, personally, prefer black and white photographs. The whole point of social realism films is to represent real situations, so nearly all social realism film posters are of real life images. No special effects, no 'glossy' feel to it, like most hollywood film posters have. As you can see, my poster fits within this usual stereotype of social realism film posters. And of course, my poster has a title and credits, which is expected of a film poster too.
